Hotel Design: The Revival

This is a group project I completed with 3 other classmates. For this project we were given an existing apartment building in Kansas City and were tasked with re-designing it into a 10-story hotel. For individual portfolio purposes, I have chosen to highlight one of my favorite spaces I worked on in the space, a premium guest room.

Our design concept was centered around combining traditional and modern styles. We focused on the Beaux-Arts architectural style as it was the predominant architecture style surrounding the existing site. We then wanted to take this style and modernize it through materials, lighting, and furniture. The space emphasizes warmth and elegance with curated lighting that enhances every space creating different moods and highlighting the overall architectural features.

This hotel is located downtown in the Crown Center District, near Union Station and various commercial hubs. Its location offers many convenient accesses to and from major highways such as I-35 and I-70, which allows easy travel to other parts of the city and surrounding cities

The area is rich in culture and history due to the nearby historic railroad and landmarks like the Liberty Memorial and the World War I Museum. The building itself shows Beaux-Arts architecturally, which adds to the area's distinct atmosphere, blends history and creates a timeless aesthetic.
