Retail Design: Moncler

This is a group project I completed with my classmate. For this design we were able to pick a well established brand and create a shop-in-shop for the brand. We were given guidelines to study preexisting shop-in-shops of the brand and create something new that the brand isn’t already doing in their stores.

The brand we chose was Moncler and we spent time visiting their stores in Rome and across Italy and Europe. The brand is very innovative and is always trying to do something shocking and new. They are transitioning into appealing to the younger generation. We chose to run with this and made the story very futuristic with our choice of material and the inclusion of large LED video pillars in front of the store. The goal was for the space to feel like a different world.  We kept to the roots of the brand by pulling inspiration from the reflectiveness of the mountains in the French Alps, which is where the company started.

LED Pillars

Moncler's brand is highly innovative and always seeking to do something new. We chose to create LED panels around the exterior of the shop to create a new and groundbreaking look for the design. This design also relates more towards the younger generation the brand is currently working toward reaching. Functionally, the pillars also work as a way to grab the attention of customers from every circulation point.

Site Context

laRinascente

Via del Tritone, 61
00187 Roma RM, Italy

The Rinascente is an Italian luxury department store with a rich history in Rome. The Flagship store in Rome is located in the heart of the city. It’s just a short walk from the Trevi Fountain, and central to many historic landmarks and buildings that define the city. The building itself dates back to the early 20th century and was remodeled in 2017.

This retail store is located on the 4th level of the building and sits directly in front of the main escalator.  It also sits on a corner of the store where it is able to be see from any different wayfinding directions
